Some changes in the Senior Youth Group Calendar

We will not have Senior Youth Group on October 29 because Saint John's will be going out to the Wendlandt's for "Farm Day."

Reflection on Sunday's Senior Youth Group

On Sunday we played Ultimate Frisbee, and then we studied John where Jesus cleanses the Temple.

We discussed how the process of purification is often painful and unpleasant. This gives us perspective on our trials and ordeals in life. When life is difficult, when we feel like we are being beaten down by our sin and difficulties that come our way, this trouble is not pointless. Rather, God is weakening us, or making us more aware of our weakness, so that we are receptive to the Gospel.

Here is some important information with deadlines:

By October 15:

• Sign-ups are due for the Indiana District Youth Gathering. See below for more information on this.
• Forms and deposits are due for the National Youth Gathering.

You may find forms and sign-up sheets on the Youth Bulletin Board in the narthex.

Information on the Indiana District Youth Gathering:

IDYG will be Friday through Sunday, November 3 - 5. A sign-up sheet will be available on the Youth Bulletin Board in the Narthex.
Here is the important info:

• What: The Indiana District Youth Gathering @ the Raddisson Airport Hotel, Indianapolis, Indiana
  
• Sign-up Deadline: October 15
  
• Cost: $100, due October 22. (If this is a hardship, or a different date needs to be arranged for payment, please contact Pr. Jackson.)
  
• When: Depart Saint John's @ 4 PM on Friday, November 3. Arrive back to Saint John's @ 5 PM on Sunday, November 5.
  
• What to bring: A list will be going out to all those who sign up.

30 Hour Famine

Well, the 30 Hour Famine turned into more of a 17 hour famine. We ended up cancelling the lock-in because there were too many competing activities and engagements.

However, I will chock this one up to a victory because we devoted quite a bit of time to helping improve the living environment at the University of Kentucky Hospital Hospitality House, an institution which gives room to families of those in long hospital stays. The youth were great, very eager to help.
