The Joys of Special Events
The youthgroup at Saint John's has just come through a period marked by special events. We went out to Farm Day and to the Indiana District Youth Gathering. Both events, while meaning that we did not have our regular Sunday Night Meeting, were great opportunities.
While I was unable to go to Farm Day, I do know that it was a good time. Good times were also had at IDYG, where the highlight was hearing the Rev. Bill Yonker speak. This guy spoke for about 30 to 40 minutes in each of 5 sessions. Would you believe that a man could keep the attention of about 400 youth for so many and such long periods? He did this ably, and they loved hearing him speak.
Yonker's main points were that God loves us and therefore gave us Jesus Christ who died for us on the cross. Because of this, we now live in this love, listening to this story as it is related in the Scriptures. Because we are brought in to the body of Christ, we then lead lives of service to those around us.
Youth, what did you think of IDYG?
