We then departed for Lexington. Along the way we stopped at Whitewater Falls in North Carolina, the highest water falls east of the Rockies, where we ate a picknick lunch.<br /><br />This evening we reunited with our families, and the kids got one last game of frisbee in.<br /><br />Much fun. This is a program aiming to get people to upload onto YouTube videos of themselves blaspheming against the Holy Spirit, apparently as a statement that they do not believe the claims of the Christian faith.<br /><br />Father Fearless created this video in response. The theology is not spot on, with its talk of works working in conjunction with our faith, but it offers an amusing and helpful response to the Blasphemy Challenge.<br /><br />In our last youth group meeting, we discussed the theology of both the Blasphemy Challenge and Father Fearless's reply. While we do not completely agree with Father Fearless's theology, we still think it would be fun to take him up on his Servant's Challenge. We went out to Farm Day and to the Indiana District Youth Gathering. Both events, while meaning that we did not have our regular Sunday Night Meeting, were great opportunities.<br /><br />While I was unable to go to Farm Day, I do know that it was a good time. Good times were also had at IDYG, where the highlight was hearing the Rev. Bill Yonker speak. This guy spoke for about 30 to 40 minutes in each of 5 sessions. Would you believe that a man could keep the attention of about 400 youth for so many and such long periods? He did this ably, and they loved hearing him speak.<br /><br />Yonker's main points were that God loves us and therefore gave us Jesus Christ who died for us on the cross. Because of this, we now live in this love, listening to this story as it is related in the Scriptures. This gives us perspective on our trials and ordeals in life. When life is difficult, when we feel like we are being beaten down by our sin and difficulties that come our way, this trouble is not pointless. We ended up cancelling the lock-in because there were too many competing activities and engagements.<br /><br />However, I will chock this one up to a victory because we devoted quite a bit of time to helping improve the living environment at the University of Kentucky Hospital Hospitality House, an institution which gives room to families of those in long hospital stays.
